Grizzly Island State Wildlife Area

Grizzly Island is part of the vast Suisun Marsh.

Small and large sloughs wind around the islands of the marsh.

The American coot is one of more than 200 bird species found in the Suisun Marsh.

The water levels vary depending on the time of year and also the tidal flow.

A series of levees also help control water levels to provide the best habitat for wintering and year-round waterfowl.

Racoons are one of the types of mammals that live in the marsh.
