An email is sent out each week describing the destination for the upcoming trip. If you would like to be added to the email list for Friday Bird Walks, you can submit your information on our sign-up page. Car-poolers will share driving expenses (recommended $.40/mi to be split by the number of riders). 9:00 AM SOLANO LAND TRUST — Rockville Trails Preserve Join docents Richard & Cathy Christo for a 4 to 5 mile quick-paced hike through the oaks and grassland with some hill climbs. We will take a few short breaks to enjoy the views and catch our breath. Enjoy this beautiful open space while getting in shape! Take advantage of this opportunity if you can because Solano Land Trust's Rockville Trails Preserve is only accessible by docent-led hikes at this time. There is no drinking water, and there are no bathrooms or parking lots yet. Dogs are not permitted. Since the preserve is otherwise closed, the entry and exit gate will be locked except for the start and end times of the hike. Bring a backpack with plenty of water and snacks or lunch. Wear hiking boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with good tread, and long, sturdy pants and layered clothes that provide protection from the elements (sun, wind, fog, rain, cold). Hiking sticks, bug repellent, binoculars and a camera are also recommended. Advance registration required. Register online, or call Cathy at 707-745-1913. Extreme weather (e.g., heavy rain or red flag conditions) may cancel. Call Cathy if the weather is uncertain. Leader: Richard & Cathy Christo Registration is required. Location: Fairfield DIRECTIONS: Meet promptly at the big red "Ice House" building on Suisun Valley Ct, near the intersection of Rockville Rd and Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield, CA. Be ready to immediately carpool or caravan from there to the trailhead. |
