We are requesting your assistance with planting plenty of native oaks, buckeyes and grass plugs and cutting invasive weeds, such as English Ivy. We also will need assistance clearing other non-native weeds from planting sites.

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Rockville Trails
Take a moderate-effort hike as you trek about 4 miles up and down the hilly, rocky terrain to the interior of this 1,500-acre natural area. Enjoy the majestic oaks and see the greening effects of February’s rains. Learn about the area’s natural history and watch for signs of wildlife that depend on this area for food, shelter, and safe passage. Rockville Trails Preserve is only accessible by docent-led hikes at this time. There is no drinking water, and there are no bathrooms or parking lots yet. Dogs are not permitted. Since the preserve is otherwise closed, the entry and exit gate will be locked except for the start and end times of the hike. Advanced registration is required. Volunteer Tree & Shrub Planting -- Morning   Saturday,  FEB  22, 2014

SOLANO RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT —  Alamo Creek Trail & Southside Bike Trail
Solano Resource Conservation District will be holding a number of 3-hour volunteer planting events along the Alamo Creek and Southside Bike Trails in the city of Vacaville. Each planting date will have a morning or an afternoon session to sign up for. Over 1,000 native trees and shrubs as well as 10,000 native grass, sedge and wildflower plugs will be planted at 10 sites where there are currently few trees or other native plants growing. Volunteers need not be experts – if you have an interest in conservation or restoration, we welcome you at these events. Families are also welcome, although the plug planting events are best for families with small children (10 and under). Participants should bring sun protection and a water bottle and dress in layers of clothing. Solano RCD will provide snacks and all necessary tools. An RSVP is required to reserve a spot. BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.
